Since 2024, we have been piloting innovative, affordable, ethical and evidence-informed approaches to tackling social isolation. The World Health Organisation recognises social isolation as a serious and under-recognised global health risk - linked to poorer physical and mental health outcomes and increased risk of early death, dementia, stroke and depression.
ELVES CIC established as a social enterprise that exists to solve social issues; not to generate profit for shareholders.
We work as a consortium of socially driven services, designed to work together as one joined-up model of support. Innovation is central to how we operate: we test, learn and improve as we go, combining practical help, human connection and ethical technology to reduce social isolation and help people live well at home for longer.
Our approach is built around emerging issues and real-world indicators; what people and communities are experiencing now, and what care providers are seeing on the ground. We develop and adapt our services in response to this evidence, so support stays relevant, accessible and effective for both individuals and the organisations supporting them.
Alongside this, we are establishing a warm, welcoming and accessible volunteer facility at the Crichton in Dumfries. This will support people of all ages and backgrounds to take part in our pilot work - helping shape and deliver bespoke services that respond to the changing needs of Dumfries & Galloway.
